SKMA Reunions

When Martial Artists train together, it is a frequent occurrence that you begin to feel like a family. You spend your time on the mat alternately throwing attacks or counterattacks to ensure your techniques will be effective. Sometimes you hit and sometimes you get hit, but almost never in malice. You offer trust in your training partners that they will keep you healthy and happy.
SKMAO has a history of over 50 years of working together to instill confidence, learn self-protection skills, and continue the never-ending journey to physical fitness. These photos will randomly change to keep people returning to see what is new.
These reunions allow us to reconnect with members of our Shaolin Kenpo family in Washington State. They take place yearly in May. If you'd like to attend the next one, please reach out to Sibok Clay Micheau or Mike Skinner Jr.  via the contact form located below.

At its very core, what we practice is about respect for each other, the art of self defense and those who have come before us. Knowledge is wasted if not put into practice.

Most of us do not move as fast as we used to, but we all move as fast as we need to.

Mark Skinner earns his 1st Degree Brown Belt 30 years after leaving Shaolin Kenpo as a Green Belt. He touches the belt to his forehead in the hope that the knowledge he has gained will allow him to represent the rank with skill and pride.

We kneel to show reverence to the style, the instructors and the moment. This is most frequently seen during promotions which are cause for celebration.

Although Mark Skinner's journey took a bit longer than anticipated, here he proudly ties on his Black Belt for the first time. In front of him are Sibok Clay Micheau and Mike Skinner Sr.

Congratualtions Mark!

Washington State has had a total of 46 practitioners reach the rank of Black Belt in Shaolin Kenpo. How rare is it that we have a photo with the first person to receive a Black Belt standing beside the 46th person to earn the rank?
